Oskar Schuster is a young composer who lives in Berlin and is seeking inspiration from old photographs, Children's books' characters and Kafkaesque aesthetics. He tells fairy-tales without any words, without any pathos and without being cheesy. He tells stories capturing the surreality of everyday life which bursts out into his music that feels like walking through a fair as a child again. It feels like being somewhere else, sometime else.
Oskar Schuster plays piano, accordion, glockenspiel, ukulele and guitar. He stamps melodies into punch cards and lets them be played by music boxes. He uses the sounds of old typewriters, cameras and radios to create the beats. In his songs all of this happens at the same time, because he records every single instrument individually. In the end he puts everything together to one great masterpiece.
He even designs the artwork by himself which again appears as a piece of surreal prose, like a walk through the forest in a land where forests do not exist.
In 2011 his debut album Dear Utopia was released. In 2012 he released Les Valses Invisibles, an EP containing old and new songs, arranged for piano solo. His second album is planned for 2013. In order to produce it, Oskar needs your support for his crowdfunding campaign on SellaBand.
